Other information

A full bodied, silky and elegant southern French red from the shores of the Mediterranean near Narbonne. This delightful blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah amply demonstrates that. No oak ageing takes place here so the pure fruitiness is allowed to do its own thing.

Tasting note

There are pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, prune, fig and sweet spice followed by a lovely and rich palate with intense and complex flavours of fresh and dried fruit, clove, cinnamon, prune and liquorice, with soft ripe tannins and a long finish.

About the producer

Château de la Négly is located in the Occitanie region in France, in the La Clape massif overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Its exceptional geographical location creates a unique alchemy of elements: caressed by the sea spray and buffeted by the Tramontane and sea winds, this sun-drenched land absorbs heat to warm the grapes that soak up the sun’s golden rays. The grapes greedily accept the treasures that Nature offers them. They can then begin their slow maturation, generously returning the bounty they have received.

Jancis Robinson (Purple Pages

Quite fumey in terms of alcohol. Big wedge of wide-footed tannins. Ripe and rumbustical, big burly fruit fanning out across the palate like mud-spattered rugby players exploding across the pitch in pursuit of the ball and glory. Light the barbecue.
