Description

Finca Viñoa is produced with utmost care and respect for the integrity of the fruit and the unique site from which it originates. The vinification is pure, clean and free from over manipulation. Maturation on the lees for 7 months in stainless steel endows the wine with fine mid-palate richness that offsets perfectly its innate, reverberating vibrancy.

Tasting note

Appearance: Beautiful yellow color with greenish reflections, steely rim, clean and very bright. Nose: High intensity, with aromas of water fruit (Fuji apple, Williams pear), stone fruit (white plum, peach, lychee peel), subtle yellow flowers that give way to elegant notes of freshly cut grass, moss, balsamic herbs, with a mineral background of river stone accompanied by a delicate smokiness. Palate: The entry has volume, creaminess, giving way to citrus notes (lemon peel, tangerine) and stone fruit, subtle fennel is sensed, vibrant, with structure in its passage, powerful and elegant, it reveals an intense minerality (granite , river stone) that also contributes salinity in its path. With character and structure, with a long aftertaste.

Food pairing

Noble shellfish (scampi, barnacles, crab, spider crab), oysters, clams and razor shells, coastal fish (sole, sea bream, sea bass, San Martino), poultry, small game (rabbit, hare, quail, partridge)

About the producer

José Gonzalez and his brother Javier have worked hard to restore the extinct 10 hectares of vineyards in the Avia River Valley, in Ribeiro. These vineyards are located in the northernmost part of the Ribeiro DO on a series of twenty dramatic terraces, lying at between 150m and 400m elevation. The terraces themselves are breath-taking – here you will find a combination of the ancient “socalcos” (terraces), as well as some slopes that have called for significant engineering and a great deal of hard graft, in order to rebuild and stabilize them. The resulting wine, based on the indigenous Treixadura variety, is a pure, mineral expression of the granite and slate soils and freshness from this fascinating, magnificent terroir.

Respecting traditional winemaking techniques and using the indigenous grape varietals, Treixadura, Godello, Albariño and Loureira, the brothers, together with winemaker José Manuel Martínez Juste, craft an exceptional dry white wine.
