Description

Sourced from a single vineyard plot, hand harvested, whole bunch pressed. Vinification in stainless steel. Off dry style (approximately 20g/l residual sugar depending on the vintage)

Tasting note

The wine exhibits pristine fruit notes together with seductive complexity, showing lemon curd, baked apple, mango and subtle spice aromas on the nose. The palate is gorgeously flavoured with bright fruit intensity as well as fine texture and fleshy mouthfeel, backed by subtle sweetness and a lengthy lively finish. Style: Medium-dry.

About the producer

We are thrilled to be working with Domaine Rewa, an up and coming producer from the Central Otago, situated next door to the wellknown Mount Edward estate. The domaine comprises a tiny 5.5ha single vineyard, nestled in the foothills of the Pisa Range on a unique fluvial terrace. Owner Philippa Fourbet, together with winemaker Pete Bartle, is pursuing her lifelong dream of producing refined wines from her homeland in Central Otago. Inspired by the elegance of Burgundy, these superbly pure and perfumed wines are made using biodynamic principles in order to produce the best possible expressions of this particular Central Otago terroir. Although the property was first planted in 1997, 2011 was Domaine Rewa’s first vintage. Production is just 10,000 bottles per year.

Jancis Robinson (Purple Pages jancisrobinson.com):

Charmingly pretty nose, wild flowers and broom blossom. Pears and clementine, delicious fruit that's quite tightly furled in racy acidity. Long in length and long in reward. Really good stuff. (TC) Points: 17 . Date Tasted: 16/05/2016

Decanter Magazine (decanter.com):

Succulent, thoroughly life-affirming Riesling from a tiny (5.5ha) biodynamic vineyard. Bright lime and Granny Smith apple acidity delightfully offset the 22g/l of residual sugar. The result is a mineral-inflected, revitalising, delicious white ideal for Thai prawn curry. (Tasted by Peter Richards MW) Points: 93. Date Tasted: 15/01/2018
