Description

Sourced from a parcel of vines on the plateau of Rully. Clay/chalk soils. Picked by hand with an initial triage in the vineyard. Vinification with natural yeast under controlled temperature, partly in cuve partly in barrel. In order to preserve the delicate flavours, the wines are partially matured in mainly used French oak barriques for 10-12 months. 2 months in cuve prior to bottling.

About the producer

Erell Ninot and her brother elaborate typical Côte Chalonnaise wines with a modern touch. After taking over the small 5 hectares Domaine from her father, Erell has gradually increased the vineyards to 13 hectares and his now seconded by her younger brother Flavien. She has previously won the Trophée de Jeune Talent, Burgundy’s best young winemaker award. Erell practices organic viticulture and winemaking protocol but chooses not to be officially certified, allowing her to craft consistently high quality wines in the rather fickle local Rully terroir. Rigorous manual vineyard work, low yields and respect for the soil, the vine and nature propel this fine domaine straight in to the top echelon of Chalonnaise producers. Minimal intervention in the cellar is a key ingredient in Erell’s winemaking credo. The delicately oaked whites are subtle but ripe with enough natural acidity. The reds are plump with poised Pinot fruit and soft tannins.
