Tasting note

Disznókő, Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos 2013 is golden to deep amber in colour depending on its age. When young, the nose bursts with intensity: fresh apricot and citrus aromas. Over 10 years old, the wine gains even greater aromatic complexity filled with dried fruits, spicy and honey notes. With a crisp acidity that balances the sweetness, the result is a wonderfully lively and harmonious wine with an incredibly long, concentrated and spicy finish. Stunning!

Food pairing

Matches brilliantly with Terrines and Pates, Comte and Blue Cheeses, Fruit based desserts and salted caramel ice cream! Drink now or keep 15+ years

Jancis Robinson (Purple Pages jancisrobinson.com):

Aszú grapes 100% Furmint, macerated in base wine and must (mainly must) of both Furmint and Hárslevel?. Deep gold. Marmalade and stones and roasted mushrooms. Complex and deep and reverberating. This is stunning. Fresh greenness threading through all that golden wine, crushed mint and green tea leaves. Such a beauty! (TC) . Date Tasted: 30/01/2019 Aszú grapes 100% Furmint, macerated in base wine and must (mainly must) of both Furmint and Hárslevel?. A very hot vintage, in which a lack of humidity limited the development of botrytis but still concentrated the grape sugars by passerillage, shrivelling the grapes on the vine. Yields of Aszú berries were low. RS 147 g/l, TA 8.9 g/l. Pale honey colour. Heady, lots of dried grapes. Edgy, spicy, like velour cloth on a piano. Very Mitteleuropean. Edgy acidity. Very vibrant but not that sweet. Tingle tangle on the palate but massive weight and sweetness. Like dried plums. Points: 17.5 (TC) / 17

Robert Parker Wine Advocate (robertparker.com):

Tasted at the Disznóko vertical in London, the 2013 Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos is 100% Furmint (Aszu grapes). It has an expressive and focused, bouquet, spice and dried honey, white flowers and candle wax. The palate is classic in style and actually almost Sauternes-like. It is certainly very well balanced and minerally, gently caressing the mouth with a linear finish that lingers nice. There is a little nuttiness here and a pleasing salinity coming through with continued aeration. This is lovely in a more understated Tokaji style. Tasted September 2016. (Neal Martin) Points: 92.
