Description

The estate’s iconic label! Produced since always and resulting from the plot selection of our finest old Grenache vines, it is the most representative wine of the domain. With its black berries notes, it's a rich and fine wine. Undeniably, a great wine from the Saint Chinian appellation.

Tasting note

Black fruits notes (blackcurrant) with lovely spicy touches (grey pepper, eucalyptus, cinnamon…) Palate With notes of black fruits, this is a rich wine with finesse. Gluttony meets power, all with surprising subtlety. Mid-palate marked by a nice freshness with a finish more structured by neat tannins.

Food pairing

Prime rib, a tagine, stuffed peppers or even a Thai beef curry.

About the producer

Château Fonsalade has been at the heart of the Languedoc for almost 130 years. The Barbe family acquired the Fonsalade property in 2014. A family of entrepreneurs for several generations, they let themselves be tempted by a wine adventure with passion and enthusiasm. The 32 hectares of vineyards within the Saint-Chinian and Roquebrun appellations afford all the advantages of the two types of soils present in the region. Thanks to a quality terroir with a beautiful mosaic, a cool altitude climate and know-how, all monitored by consultant oenologist Claude Gros, Château Fonsalade is recognized as one of the best wine producers in the Languedoc.
