About the producer

With a history of working the land here since the early 1900s, the Grussaute family have a real connection to the culture and tradition of the local environment and its unique characteristics. Jean and Jany Grussaute successfully cultivated strawberries, as well as vines during the 1960s and 1970s. On Jean’s death in 1983, the focus was solely on viticulture. Their son, Jean Marc Grussaute, oined his mother in 1988, having finished his wine studies and immediately set out to withdraw their production from the local co-op, thereby embarking on a path of an independent vigneron of quality, integrity and authenticity. He is now producing some of the most sought after Jurançons in the appellation at his 11ha organically certified Camin Larredya. Half of the vineyards are planted on hillside terraces. Soil health is vital to quality insists Jean Marc. His natural, respectful approach chimes sensitively with the environment. Treatments are organic. The vineyard is planted to 60% Petit Manseng and 37% Gros Manseng and 3% Petit Courbu. The dry wines are precise, powerful, yet fresh and perfectly balanced. The sweet wines also display the same liveliness and precision; the residual sugar is always in perfect harmony, with the vibrant crisp acidity.
